About Us
Our mission is to scale the synergies seaweeds provide to regenerate biodiversity, mitigate environmental impact, capture and sequester carbon and create a regenerative future.
ORA's Team
Since forming in 2020, ORA has been building an expert team of individuals and
organizations that are most able to collaborate to create and scale nature-based
solutions to regenerate biodiversity and sequester carbon. ORA’s approach is to
establish trust, understanding and collaboration with others to execute and advance
solutions with pace.
ORA operates through a lean organizational structure that is both nimble and cost
effective. We collaborate with other businesses, academia, conservation organizations
and government. We deeply value these relationships and believe sectors of society
must evolve to cooperate more effectively to meet the moment that the climate crisis
presents.
Collaborating is Key to Execution

Location Advantage
British Columbia's advantage lies in its pristine ecosystems and nutrient-rich waters habitat for over 640 species of seaweeds, the highest diversity of seaweed species in the world. These are the traditional territories of Indigenous people who have lived in and stewarded nature for many millennia. With 25,000 kilometres of coastline and a skilled marine-based workforce, the region offers exceptional potential for establishing a thriving seaweed cultivation industry. Supported by recent policies promoting responsible aquaculture and marine protection, along with strong financial institutions and well-established infrastructure, British Columbia presents an opportunity to catalyze regenerative economic development and ecosystem management in the ocean.
